New Year’s Resolutions

Yes, we all have these.  What is it about a new year that makes us want to change our lives?

A few suggestions for a better 2018.

The new year will also have 365 days, 52 weeks and 12 months. Why would this one be different than all the others? Will the stars be aligned differently and will the universe be more kind to us?

I don’t now but it seems that just the slight possibility that the locomotion of Father Time make us hopeful and joyful.   How many of us follow it to the end of January?  Why is it so difficult for us to stick to our amazing new ideals of losing weight, learn a new language or sign up for lessons to play the harp? I think it is because we all have that illusive dream of doing the impossible.

It is good that we dream and have ideals, but maybe this year I will tone it down a bit.

My Five (hopefully) New Year’s Goals:

1. Eat healthier.

2. Finish all those half-used bottles of face cream in the bathroom.

3. Learn a new word each month (every day is just too exhausting), in either my first language (Afrikaans) or second language (English).

4. Give some of my time to a worthy cause.

5. Get the “meditation- thing” right and do it more often.

I hope you all have a wonderful new year that may all your dreams come true.
